Youth Hunting
Youth Deer Hunting
Youth hunting programs are a critical component of ushering in the next generation of hunters who will enjoy the outdoors long after we're gone.
As with most states, youth hunting in Alabama begins with a hunter education program, which is available as a traditional in-class course with a written test, or as an Internet course. If you were born on or after August 1, 1977, you must complete an approved Alabama hunter education program to be eligible to purchase a hunting license, which is mandatory for all hunters over the age of 16.
Deer Hunting
Youth hunting days are offered every year prior to gun deer season. Many Wildlife Management Areas offer youth hunting days before the season opens to adult hunters. Several additional youth hunting opportunities for deer are also available.
The youth deer hunt at Westervelt Lodge has become a cherished tradition for our family. It’s more than just hunting—it’s quality time in the outdoors, away from screens and distractions, where we can truly connect. The deer are abundant, the setting is beautiful, and the experience is always safe and well-organized. My child looks forward to it every year, and the memories we’ve built together out here will last a lifetime.
